Immediate Actions: An alternate drinking water supply was provided for personnel on the base.
The Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) has been proudly servicing the needs of Marines and their families since 1897.
The Barstow Marine Corps Logistics Base site covers 5,687 acres east of Barstow, California. Consequently, the majority of wastes historically generated by the base have been vehicle-related and war surplus.
The site consists of three areas: the Nebo area, the Yermo area and the Rifle Range. Vehicle-related wastes include waste oils, grease, hydraulic fluids, fuels, battery acids, bilge waters, and antifreeze.
A groundwater extraction system has been installed at Nebo north and is actively working.
At Nebo south, an air sparging/vapor extraction pilot test has been conducted and the system continues to operate.
